The MMA Judge Training course is a half day (5 hour) program which is designed to teach the MMA enthusiast the difference between watching a fight and scoring a fight. While many think that judging an MMA bout is entirely subjective, there are very specific scoring criteria which must be followed. This course covers each of the criteria: Effective Striking/Effective Grappling, Effective Aggressiveness, and Cage/Fighting Area Control* as well as how to properly score a bout utilizing the criteria. The course will consist of powerpoint presentation with lecture, question and answer discussion, and video analysis. There will be a final exam testing criteria knowledge, submission/position identification and description, and round scoring with explanation. Upon successful completion of the MMA Judge Training Course, students will, if state regulations permit, be equipped with the skills necessary to apply for licensure with local sanctioning organization/commission. At this point each commission has its own policies/procedures/regulations for the path to becoming a licensed MMA Judge.
Course attendees are responsible for understanding, explaining, and identifying common MMA positions and the following submission maneuvers: Anaconda Choke, Arm Triangle Choke, Ezekiel Choke, Guillotine Choke, Neck Crank, North South Choke, Rear Naked Choke, Triangle Choke (standard and inverted), Von Flue Choke, D’Arce Choke, Peruvian Necktie, Twister, Americana Armlock, Arm Bar Submissions, Keylock Submission, Kimura, Omaplata, Gogoplata, Wristlocks, Ankle Locks, Figure Four Toehold, Kneebar, and Heel Hooks (inside and outside).
